Lifting Fog is a vertical 18×10 vineyard of the hills and trees in Napa Valley as the morning fog lifts over the mountains in fall. The hills are green and the vines are just starting to turn color. Everything about the scene was peaceful and had a very cool light to it. The fog had just lifted enough to put sunlight on the vines and the distant hills. This is one of my favorite scenes from my painting trip to northern California. I love this area and never tire of painting here and Sonoma County, even though I live among vineyards in Santa Barbara County.
