The Hills of Los Olivos is a plein air painting done in the early morning in late spring. The hills were still partially green but starting to turn. The oak trees had leafed out and the distant hills were a beautiful blue. This is a plein air study done for a larger painting for the owners of the property to preserve the view they had from there. It was gorgeous and such a fantastic day to be out painting. The homes in the distance along with the vines and tall cypress trees gives the scene a Tuscany feel to it. It was a fun painting to do, having everything in it a good landscape and composition could ask for.
